System Attendant starts, and then stops [Exchange 2007]
I have an Exchange 2007 installation where I have run into a problem. The System Attendant service does not stay in a "started" state. It is set to start up automatically. And, I have also set it to restart automatically on failure. However, it seems that it is able to start. It's just that it starts up, and then stops, never staying on. Looking through the event logs, I see that the System Attendant sometimes accomplishes background/maintenance type tasks (like in the middle of the night), so it is not completely broken. However, ExBPA doesn't like that it is not "started". Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I am experiencing the exact same symptoms described by you, Michael. Did you ever get it resolved?

Oh, that was a while ago. In this case, the problem was due to Apple Talk protocol being installed on the Exchange server. Had to call PSS for that one. Uninstalled Apple Talk, problem solved. Don't know if it will apply for you, but that is what caused it in my case. Good luck.

Thanks, but this Exchange Server is fruitless. I wish I had Apple Talk so I could uninstall it and make the bad problem go away.

Did you start any other posts/topics regarding your issue? These boards are read not only by people with problems, but also by people who are willing to help. If your problem isn't time-sensitive (as in, my manager needs this to be up and running in 2 hours, or else I am fired), post what the problem is in more detail. If it is indeed time-sensitive, you really need to call PSS or a consultant who will work on your issue right away. Are the basics of being a mail server intact, that is, can it send and receive mail?

I just want to say, thanks. I was pulling my hair out on this. I could not get BES to work or add new email accounts, because of that system attendant service not staying up ...uninstall the Appletalk, restarted...poof all is well.
